Botox
What exactly is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
Those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows form over time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

When will I see results from a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better 1 month after treatment. Results may vary.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Who should administer BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Any authorized healthcare professional can administer BOTOX® Cosmetic, but dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat doctors), or other physicians specializing in cosmetic procedures are generally more experienced.

Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, your physician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people return directly to work or normal activity following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Who should not use BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Will I experience any side effects?
The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Less frequently occurring (<3%) adverse reactions include pain in the face, erythema at the injection site, and muscle weakness. These events are thought to be associated with the injection and occurred within the first week.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had work done." The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

JuvedermWhat is JUVÉDERM®?
Juvéderm is the only HA filller with FDA approval to last up to one year. Juvéderm injectable gel is a "next-generation" smooth consistency gel dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds like your "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds — the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

What does JUVÉDERM do?
Juvéderm injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face.

What is JUVÉDERM indicated for?
Juvéderm injectable gels are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of skin) for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth, aka smile lines or parentheses).

RestylaneWhat is Restylane®?
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

What is Restylane made of?
Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?
Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, Restylane is non-animal-based. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

What should patients do prior to treatment?
Restylane requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, St. John's wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.

Is Restylane safe?
Yes. Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. There is virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

Can Restylane be used anywhere on the face?
Restylane has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. It is currently indicated in the U.S. for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

How long does Restylane last?
Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer in some cases. The unique NASHA™ technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

How often should I have Restylane treatments done?
Restylane treatments are typically scheduled twice a year.

Do the injections hurt?
Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may anesthetize the treatment area.

PerlaneWhat is Perlane®?
Perlane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

How are Restylane® and Perlane® different from each other?
Restylane and Perlane contain stabilized hyaluronic acid, made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is Perlane is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane and is intended for deeper injection to volumize skin for correcting facial wrinkles and folds. Your physician can best determine what is right for you.

Laser TreatmentsTreatment of Facial Veins
Facial unsightly blood vessels and telangiectasia on the face can affect both men and women. This condition can be due to sun damage, smoking, heredity, hormones of other factors. While other treatments exist for these conditions, undesired cosmetic side-effect can occur, such as purpura.

The CoolGlide systems allow us to treat a wide range of aesthetic vascular conditions, including facial telangiectasias as well as spider veins and reticular leg veins. The adjustable spot size of 3, 5, 7, and 10 mm on the ClearView handpiece allows the doctor to control the treatment depth to target different sized veins, while the range of pulse duration and fluence ensures effective treatment.

Hair Removal
Hair removal is one of the most popular laser-based aesthetic procedures since it can provide permanent reduction of unwanted hair.

Lasers are well suited for the removal of unwanted hair, because with the right selection of parameters, they can be used as a non-invasive method to disable the hair structure without damaging the surrounding dermis and epidermis. Numerous hair follicles can be treated simultaneously allowing for rapid coverage of large areas.

The CoolGlide systems were the first Nd:YAG systems approved for use on all skin types and tanned skin, allowing treatment of a wider patient base than other systems. Independent control of pulse width and fluence allow effective treatment on a range of hair thicknesses, including the often difficult-to-treat finer hairs that are left by other systems after a number of treatments.

Treatment of Leg Veins
Approximately 50% to 60% of men and women worldwide have unsightly leg veins. While sclerotherapy is an option for the removal of superficial leg veins, there are known side effects, and some veins will not respond. The CoolGlide systems can provide a safe and effective method of treatment for a wide range of leg veins and requires no painful injections.

LimeLight Facial
Treatment of Skin Redness, Tiny Veins, Brown Spots and Sun Damage What is the LimeLight Facial? The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using the Cutera LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.

What areas can be treated? The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

What does the treatment do? By selecting Program A, B or C, your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect.

What do treatments feel like? When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.

How long will the treatments take? Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour.

How many treatments will I need? One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sundamaged skin.

What happens after the treatment? Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

When will I see results? Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time? New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broadspectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be cured with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

Laser Genesis
Treatment of Wrinkles and Redness, Management of Large Pores and Skin Texture Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative, technologically advanced way to promote vibrant and healthy looking skin in men and women. Now you can have a youthful appearance by treating those conditions that are typically associated with premature signs of aging and sun damage, such as excessive redness, large pores, uneven texture, and fine line wrinkles. The Laser Genesis procedure has been scientifically proven to produce new collagen.

The Laser Genesis difference. The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes noninvasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

How does Laser Genesis work? By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin's surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.

How many treatments will I need? The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient's condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your healthcare professional.

What are the possible side effects? Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your healthcare professional for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.

What kind of textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy? Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore the skin's youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more even, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.

CollagenIntroduced 18 years ago, Zyderm® and Zyplast® injectable collagen implants have set the standard in filler materials for smoothing facial lines, wrinkles and scars and in providing lip border definition. Treatments supplement the skin's natural collagen, require minimal procedure time, and provide immediate results. Today, more than one million people worldwide have been treated with Zyderm® or Zyplast® collagen implants.

Zyderm and Zyplast implants are composed of highly purified bovine dermal collagen that is dispersed in phosphate buffered physiological saline containing 0.3% lidocaine.

Zyderm and Zyplast implants are indicated for the correction of contour deformities of the dermis in non-weight bearing areas. These implants have been employed successfully in many areas of the body to correct distensible acne scars; atrophy from disease or trauma; glabellar frown lines; nasolabial folds; rhinoplasty, skin graft or other surgically-induced irregularities; and other soft tissue defects.

Patients experience immediate, visible results. Treatment with Zyderm or Zyplast implants is an easy and effective way to smooth lines, wrinkles, scars, and to define the lip border. An immediate, visible difference in the patient's appearance may be achieved in one treatment session.

Four weeks prior to the procedure, Collagen Test Implant is administered intradermally into the volar forearm to determine if a patient has a sensitivity to the implants. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of men and women tested can be treated with Zyderm and Zyplast implants.

If a patient is eligible to receive treatment, Zyderm and Zyplast implants are implanted intradermally through a fine gauge needle into the appropriate facial planes needed for correction. Treatment with Zyderm and Zyplast implants consists of a simple in-office procedure that can be completed quickly and conveniently, even during a lunch hour. Most patients return to their normal routine immediately following the procedure.

An ongoing series of customized treatments can preserve the look that is desired. These treatments are as easy and convenient as the first one.

Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants, introduced in the early 1980's, remain the most widely used, safe, and effective choices for smoothing lines, wrinkles, scars, and for defining the lip border. More than1 million treatments in over 40 countries have been administered with Zyderm and Zyplast implants.

Rigorous clinical trials to determine the safety and efficacy of Zyderm and Zyplast collagen implants were conducted from 1976 to 1981. This data was submitted to the Food and Drug Administration and Zyderm and Zyplast implants were cleared for marketing in 1981 and 1985 respectively. No other injectable collagen implants currently on the market have undergone such extensive study.
